The Audience Choice from last year’s special drive.
Antonio, a Venetian merchant, takes a loan from Shylock, a Jewish moneylender, to help his friend Bassanio to court Portia – a wealthy heiress. The terms of the loan stipulate that failure to repay it on the agreed date will entitle Shylock to a pound of Antonio's flesh. When Antonio finds he cannot repay the loan, Shylock demands a pound of his flesh in a Venetian court of law. Portia, now the wife of Bassanio, disguises herself as a lawyer to save Antonio’s life.
