Leadership Role Descriptions 


Leadership Chair: The VYP Committee Chair is responsible for leading all leadership meetings through constructive dialogue and work to focus the group’s talents and resources to meet VYP’s objectives. The VYP Committee Chair is an exemplary model of professionalism and leadership. The Committee Chair ensures that other committee members are engaged, actively contributing, and in timely communication with one another. The Committee Chair identifies potential challenges and liaisons with the VYP Director to mitigate issues.


The Leadership Co-Chair: The VYP Committee Co-Chair is responsible for assisting in all the above tasks, as well as stepping in for the Chair in their absence.


Eligibility 

A nominee for the Leadership Committee position must be under 39 years of age; must have held membership with VYP for a minimum of six (6) months; must have attended and participated in a minimum of three (3) regularly scheduled committee meetings or events within the current fiscal year; must have a good understanding of the VYP programs, events, and goals; and must sign a commitment form agreeing to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Election

All VYP Member, Including current and outgoing Leadership Committee members, are eligible to vote on all positions, selecting only from the available nominees. The winner for each position shall be determined by the member to receive the most votes. In the event of a tie, the oldest nominee will be the winner.

Term

Members of the leadership Committee are elected to a one-year term and are eligible for elected to a second term for the same position if all other VYP membership requirements are met. No VYP member may serve more than two (2) consecutive terms in the same position on the Leadership Committee.



2024 Commitment Form Preview


As a VYP Committee Chair I freely assume this position and pledge my commitment to serving in the Program for 2024 by agreeing to abide by the following guidelines.


-Act professionally when representing VYP, being careful to act in the best interest of VYP and TVCC's best interest always. 

-Communicate with TVCC staff, keeping them aware of any correspondence you've had with potential vendors or sponsors on behalf of VYP and TVCC. Please copy VYP Coordinator to email correspondence with potential vendors/sponsors.

-Treat information relative to VYP and its activities with confidentiality to protect strategic interests, goals, budget, and intellectual property.

-Promote VYP actively to the outside community, inviting membership and participation.

-Actively lead, engage, and communicate with VYP membership to promote involvement.

-Attend all Leadership Committee Meetings and VYP-hosted events. Leaders are allowed up to 3 excused absences from the Leadership Committee Meetings and one excused absence from each of the following circumstances: Leaders Who Lunch, Education Events, Monthly Mixers, and Cornhole. Unexcused absences or missing more than the quantities mentioned above will result in potential suspension or expulsion from Leadership.

-Fulfill the specific duties of your Committee Role, per its Role Description. If you find you are unable to fulfill an obligation or need assistance - communicate with VYP Committee Leadership and/or the VYP Coordinator with as much notice as possible. Failure to continually meet Leadership Role Descriptions can result in a Leadership Review. The results of the review can lead to potential suspension or expulsion from Leadership.
